The first edition of ReA! Art Fair was held at the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan from October 30 to November 1, 2020. One hundred emerging Italian and international artists, selected by a committee of curators, exhibited their works and promoted their art directly. The fair, which launched through a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe, aimed to introduce a new concept of an art fair to Milan, one that prioritizes artists over galleries.
ReA! Art Fair was organized by ReA Arte, a cultural association founded by a group of young female entrepreneurs. The fair aimed to move beyond the traditional fair model, ensuring transparent sales with fair representation and pricing of works.
By interweaving six sections, including photography, digital art, performance, painting, sculpture, and installations, ReA! Art Fair presented a unique project curated by Maria Myasnikova, Tuğana Perk, Laura Pieri, Paola Shiamtani, and Pelin Zeytinci. The fair developed an interactive and sensory experience with interconnected artworks and has received positive press and international recognition as one of the very few art fairs to have taken place in 2020, the year marked by lockdowns and COVID-19 restrictions.
