The Fair!
From October 12 to 15, 2023, the fourth edition of ReA! Art Fair welcomed visitors and art experts to the Spazio ex Cisterne at the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan, presenting a groundbreaking curatorial project showcasing 100 emerging artists without galleries’ or museums’ intermediation. Promoted and organized by the nonprofit association ReA Arte under the patronage of the City of Milan and Fondazione Cariplo, the event was directed by Maryna Rybakova and Pelin Zeytinci.
The fair provided a unique meeting space for artists selected by a scientific committee of curators—Maria Myasnikova, Erica Massaccesi, Rita Meschiari, Paola Shiamtani, Milena Zanetti, and Vittoria Martinotti—from over 800 applications worldwide.
The Main section, co-conceived by architect Elisa Dellarossa, seamlessly blended painting, photography, sculpture, performance, digital art, and street art, creating a dynamic and fluid presentation. Special sections were dedicated to partners and special projects, along with a program of talks and meetings addressing contemporary issues in emerging art, featuring insights from young professionals.
ReA! Art Fair also included a robust awards program, with three prizes awarded to outstanding artists. The €1,500 Cash prize was awarded by an external jury and contributed to by the ReA! audience, facilitated by Artsted, a digital platform for art investment. One artist was granted a residency in Italy in collaboration with VIAFARINI, an additional international residency in Cairo, Egypt, supported by the Italian Art Council and ARD Art Organization in collaboration with Sahar Behairy, was also announced.
Side events program curated by Chiara Gesualdo featured talks and workshops on art and design, artificial intelligence, and ultra-contemporary collecting, involving prominent entities such as the Bocconi Business & Arts student association, the Giuseppe Iannaccone Collection, 5Vie Design district, and more. Notable book presentations included "Arte Queer. Corpi, segni storie" by Elisabetta Roncati and "ECONOMIA DELL’ARTE. Mercato, diritto e trasformazione digitale” edited by Annapaola Negri-Clementi.
With 63 people involved in the organization, including 16 founders, a press office (CLP Comunicazioni), 25 volunteers, and 18 technical support collaborators, the fourth edition of ReA! Art Fair achieved significant success, reinforcing its role as a vital platform for emerging artists.
