Alias

Frame 112.png

12 May - 19 May 2022

From May 12 to May 19, the ReA! Art Association presents to the public ‘Alias’, the result of the past few months of work and close collaboration between the winners of the ReA! Art Fair Prize 2021 and the curatorial team. The collective exhibition symbolically closes the events related to the past edition of ReA! Art Fair, after the artist residency award ‘Look Forward’ was held in Naples in February 2022, and projects visitors towards the III edition of ReA Art Fair (October 13-16, 2022 - Fabbrica del Vapore, Milan).

Starting from the personal dimension of the nine international creatives, the collective exhibition presents a global vision of the reflections, needs, and desires that characterize our era, leading the public to reflect on the most recent events.

Represented by a tension between local and global politics, the proposed works dissimulate more complex aspects by playing through various devices. The Alias, which interposes between the public and the perception of the fictitious image that emerges from the work, mystifies narratives belonging to contemporary thought. Through the combination of various sound and visual elements, the works reveal the evocative power of art, allowing us to contemplate what would otherwise go unnoticed.

Through the different use of the concept of otherness and the constant process of translating reality, the exhibition offers a solution for reading the current context, allowing broader narratives of the objective world to be perceived through the deception of a more intimate story.

The heterogeneity of the works and the media used is the result of the complete freedom of expression given to the artists. Thanks to the curatorial work, the works interact with each other and with the surrounding space, creating a coherent path that allows the public to relate to the works and the thoughts of the artists.
